Great Yarmouth Town Reserves v Dussindale and Hellesdon Rovers Reserves.
Wednesday 20th April 2022.  Report by Martin Baxter.

On a sunny and mild spring evening Yarmouth reserves hosted high flying Rovers in a much anticipated clash as Yarmouth had been in excellent from recently and they now came up against one of the top sides in the league.

As in the last 2 home games Yarmouth took a decisive early lead in the 7th minute when the in-form Sam Adams converted with a well timed run and clinical finish that beat the off-side trap.
This should have opened the game up however we then had a 10 minute spell where both teams became bogged down in the midfield area.

However in the 17th minute following great build up play through the centre of the park, Tyler Halliday released a shot from 15 yards out that just went wide of the visitors right hand post.

Adams and Halliday were really working well as a striking pair and were causing Rovers all kinds of problems with Adams holding the front line and then releasing Halliday to attack with his pace.
On the half hour mark Rovers had their first opportunity when following a corner Zach Borner connected perfectly with a volley from fully 30 yards that was superbly turned over the bar by Yarmouth keeper Alex Riches.
Then barely 5 minutes later Ethan Spink went through on goal with a mazy run and slotted the ball home to put the Bloaters 2-0 up.
2 minutes later it was almost 3-0 when Adams put in Halliday with a great pass and his shot was deflected by a defender for a Yarmouth corner.
Halliday had another opportunity right on half-time with a volley from 30 yards out that sailed over the bar.

Half time:  Great Yarmouth Town Reserves: 2  Dussindale and Hellesdon Rovers Reserves 0.

The 2nd half started with the home side once again on the front foot and on 55 minutes Ethan Spinks broke free on the right flank with a surging run and then cut in superbly to score from 10 yards out to put Bloaters 3-0 up and seemingly out of sight.
The best goal of the night though came on the hour mark when Yarmouth’s Keanen Hughes lobbed the ball over the Rovers keeper from fully 40 yards out to place it perfectly in the centre of the goal net for a stunning effort and possibly the goal of the season at the Wellesley.

Yarmouth then seemed to turn off and an innocuous looking cross was somehow bundled home by Rovers substitute George Mc William to make the score 4-1 on the night.
The same player then had another chance to pull the scores closer 5 minutes later, but this time his shot went over the bar.

Ethan Spinks then had a great chance on 85 minutes to score a 5th for his side, but his effort from close range went straight to the Rovers keeper.
Both sides than had further half chances before the ref finally blew the final whistle and what a superb evening it was for the young Bloaters!
